Kiki – Respiratory Disease
Kiki is an endearing 8 year old, female spayed Balinese cat, who rules the roost.
Kiki presented with a history of three chest infections over the last 5 years (3 lots of antibiotics) epiphora – watery eye discharge and recently a purulent discharge from the left nostril.
Conventional diagnosis: Upper respiratory tract infection, maxillary sinus involvement and conjunctivitis.
Therapeutic Goals: To resolve the conjunctivitis, sinus infection and support the lungs. To enhance the immune system and prevent further susceptibility to respiratory weakness.
Integrative Treatment Plan: Powdered Herbs (Traditional Chinese Remedy), Pre/Probiotics, Fish Oils and Medicinal Mushrooms were dispensed.
Outcome: October 2018
Kiki responded well to the integrative protocol and within 3 days the discharge had almost resolved, within 7 days she was symptom free. She was kept on the protocol for 4 weeks to ensure that a deeper level of immune support was achieved. The owners noted that her breathing sounded clearer, they had noticed mild snoring over the last few months prior to the outbreak of disease which had now resolved.
